Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year, unless you get socks as a gift!
This Christmas, give your friends and family something you know they’ll enjoy. Maybe a little ginspiration, a wine to stop any whining or a little bit of whiskey history.
Spirits of Christmas past, present & future
Interestingly we all know which spirits our family and friends enjoy, yet we struggle to remember their birthdays!
I think Christmas is the perfect time to upgrade on old favourites. If your friend likes her Irish Whiskey, treat her to a Redbreast 12 Year Old – considered by many one of the best whisk(e)y made anywhere in the world. If your brother loves his gin, treat him to the gin gift set with the glass to replace the one you broke last Christmas. Or if your mother loves an Aperol Spritz regardless of the temperature outside, gift box her the Prosecco, Aperol and even the soda water!
No W(h)ining about Socks
With the average price of a bottle of wine in the UK a lowly £5.56, spending over £10 on a wine can sometimes feel like quite a stretch. But if there’s a time for a stretch, it’s Christmas. If you’re the kind of person who gifts socks, please rethink this terrible decision and use that money for a great wine.
Three wines to please everyone from the wine snob to the wine newbie:
Chablis by Andre Goichot @ £12 this Christmas, a classic French white that is sure to impress.
Rioja Pagos De Labarca AEX @ £17, yes it may seem like a lot to spend on wine but it’s worth it, especially if your friend loves Rioja. This is next level stuff!
Cremant de Loire Premier Cru @ £9, French bubbles made in the same way as Champagne, but at a Prosecco price. A sparkling treat without breaking the £10 barrier.
Christmas Ginspiration
2018 is sure to be remembered as the Year of the Gin. So much so, that this Christmas at SuperValu you’ll be able to pick up a Gin infused Smoked Salmon, a Gin soaked Cake and even a Gin filled Christmas Card!!
However, if your friends are the kind who prefer their G & T in a glass, we’ve got you covered. With glass packs on Tanqueray, Beefeater Pink, Dingle and Whitley Neill. And for those who prefer their gin in a mug or teacup, we have gift packs of both Jawbox and Hendricks. All while stocks last.
With these tips you’ll have no more excuses for bad gifting!
