Ingredients
To Prepare
- 1.5 kg Short ribs Approx
- 100 ml Light Soy Sauce
- 1 Chicken or beef stock cube crumbled
- 100 ml Water
- 1 Grated garlic clove
- 1 tsp Grated Ginger heaped
- 2 Spring Onions chopped into 2 inch chunks
- 6 tbsp Honey or use brown sugar
- Sesame Seeds
To Finish
- 1 tsp Sesame Oil
- Toasted sesame seeds
- 4 tbsp Cornflour paste 2 tbsp of cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp of water
- Spring Onions
Cooking Instructions
- In a dry pan, heat to the highest temperature and then sear the ribs for a couple of minutes on each side to seal in the flavour and take out of pan, they will have a lovely caramelisation (make sure you have the add in the cornflour paste and windows open!)
- While searing the ribs - In a bowl mix the soy sauce, stock cube, water, garlic, ginger, honey and sesame seeds and spring onions.
- Toss the ribs into the mixture and pour all of this into a slow cooker and cook on high for 6 hours. These ribs will be so tender and fall off the bone. At the 5 hours and 30 minutes mixture through well and the sauce will thicken. Just before serving add in the sesame oil and mix. Dress with toasted spring onions.
