Bosom buddies sign up and raise cash for Action Cancer!

SuperValu has just announced that they will support Action Cancer’s The Bra Walk for the fourth year in a row.

The Bra Walk is Action Cancer’s flagship event and engages 1,000 participants to walk a 10K route around Belfast, turning the city into a sea of pink. This year, the event will be held on Friday 15th June at 7pm starting from Belfast City Hall. The Bra Walk is an opportunity for women, men and children to show support for Action Cancer and raise vital funds for the unique free breast screening service the charity provides to women in Northern Ireland aged 40-49 and 70 years plus.

SuperValu is a much-loved brand across Northern Ireland who champion local produce, promote healthier living and support communities. SuperValu, which has 35 stores across Northern Ireland, also raises funds for The Action Cancer Big Bus which visits 225 locations each year, providing life-saving services and funds which benefit thousands of people in Northern Ireland.

Valerie Thompson, Assistant Brand Manager for SuperValu said: “We are delighted to sponsor The Bra Walk for the fourth year running and would encourage families and friends from across Northern Ireland to get involved in this fun event! We are proud to support Action Cancer’s Big Bus, helping Action Cancer achieve their mission of saving lives and supporting people through early detection.”

Amy Reynolds, Fundraising Partnership Executive at Action Cancer said “We are delighted that once again SuperValu will be lending their support to The Bra Walk.  Getting involved is a great way to raise awareness of our life-saving service as well as an opportunity to get fit, walk in memory of a loved one or support someone going through breast cancer. Spread the word and encourage your bosom buddies, family and work colleagues to put their best foot forward and sign up to walk 10k this June!”

Action Cancer’s mission is to save lives and support people affected by cancer.  The charity provide free digital breast screening for women aged 40 – 49 and 70+ (outside the NHS screening range), M.O.T. health checks for men and women, and health and lifestyle advice on the Big Bus, supported by SuperValu –  a mobile unit which travels to 225 locations throughout Northern Ireland each year. Each year Action Cancer aims to screen 10,000 women and for every 1,000 screenings 5 or 6 women have their cancer detected when it may have gone unnoticed.
